Thu, December 2, 2004 - 9:09 AMI have had plenty of unpleasant experiences with spirits, so channeling is out of the question for me. But when I read The Nature of Personal Reality, I felt my life immediately and naturally changing for the better without any effort on my part. When you read the words in that book, it seems like Seth is right there, speaking directly to you. Then again, I could be a total fruitcake, but who cares? Have you had any channeled entities come through in your life? -

I would have to agree, that when you read the material, you feel like Seth is there, kind of like the session is just for you. Seth mentions that this is intentional and that the words themselves are chosen to construct a kind of bridge to the reader.
Anyone who has been to the Roger Dean house can't be a fruitcake, I like your photo gallery. -

Thu, December 2, 2004 - 12:03 PMI used to be very curious about spirits until one day when deep in meditation one came to me and I was very open to it and tried to communicate. I didn't get any clear communication but I thought it was there to help me in some way. I thought that since I was so positive about life, that nothing negative could come to me. I was wrong!
The experiences I went through after this would fill a book. I have thought about writing a book about it so that people would be cautious about communicating with spirits, or being too curious.
There seems to be a thin veil that keeps people from feeling the presence of spirits, once you tamper with it you can't go back to innocence. Anyone can pierce the veil, if they are persistent, not just psychics. I used to think I would be somehow special if I communicated with spirits or could see them, I learned though that you can get what you want but you might not want what you get!
Anyway, sorry if I'm blabbering on too much. Of course there are many positive experiences people can have with spirits, like the Seth material. I just learned from my experiences that I'm happy being in this body, that life in this body is enough for me to deal with, and I am not strong enough, grounded enough, or patient enough to deal with pissed off entities that are not currently in a body! They have as many issues as we have it seems. I respect anyone who is grounded enough to be a channel, it's a very selfless and brave thing to do, more power to them!!!
Thanks for checking out my pictures! I haven't been to the actual Roger Dean house but I would love to, or if he could make me a house that would be nice, though I can't currently afford one! Someday...... -

Wed, March 23, 2005 - 8:23 AMThere is certainly a hazard of picking up low-quality spirits. Especially maladjusted dead people, who can latch on desperately to living people like parasites if they can. This type will do anything to keep the relationship going, including various types of manipulation and deception, very commonly feeding the ego of the channeler.
First red flag, if an entity identifies itself as BEING some character that it had lived on the material plane. Like, "I AM a 35,000-year-old warrior from Atlantis," rather than "one personality that I had was..." Defining its IDENTITY in terms of who it was on earth.
Second red flag was in your post -- "I used to think I would be somehow special if I communicated with spirits..." If someone does it because they think it would make them special, and they want to be special, that is like an open invitation to those types of spirits. They can use your desire to be special to manipulate you. Or you can ignore warning signs that something not good is happening because you are thinking how "special" it is.

That is true. That is why it is good to understand the potential hazards.

Sun, December 19, 2004 - 5:53 AMRe: Seth kinda showing up while reading the text...my sister first recommended Seth to me due to my interest in Edgar Cayce and others, and I found Seth Speaks very interesting to read in a Caycian context. (I'd love to do a cross-analysis of both huge bodies of work, but that would be a life's work, perhaps someday!) I experienced Seth's presence and was not particularly weirded out by it, considering other pursuits of mine, and his assertion at the end that such was intentional was quite effective; but when I tried to lend it to my girlfriend she only got about 10 pages in and refused to go further. She did not even want to see the book laying around. So I lent it to another friend who had the same reaction she did. He said he "didn't trust it" and that the presence made him feel very creeped out. He still hasn't given the book back, even though I see him periodically and even the last time I went over to get it I left before remembering to do so, so I think perhaps it's supposed to stay with him awhile. I had the same experience with a Cayce book I lent out and never got back, but I tend to think some books go where they want to go. I myself acquired a copy of The Golden Script in a odd manner, a surprisingly rare text said to be channelled from Jesus. Even with my background I have not been able to make it past the first 30 or so pages. Amazingly, the book leapt at me from a shelf in a little odds and ends shop and I bought it for $2, only to find later that it could be worth several hundred. I know it must be an amazing work, but if the power and presence of Seth can be so unnerving, just imagine howso Jesus himself might be! -

Tue, December 21, 2004 - 2:00 PMI'm going to make a bold statement here that may turn others away, but this is a Set forum.
Seth talks a lot about the "Jesus" phenomena and you must realize, of course, that jesus did not exist as christians believe he does. He was an amalgamation of several personalities that formed into the myth that we have today.
Jesus can be real to you if you choose to believe so. But Seth warns of the impending psychosis that will grow if you entertain such dichotomous belief systems as good and evil. You will encounter them in your world, your world will have to contain evil for good to exist. Seth teaches us that that is unneccessary.
I'm sure Seth would get a nice chuckle being compared to christ.;>)

Anyway, to the question, I have channeled since I was in my late teens (I'm 52 now).
I could talk a lot about the process of channeling, as my spirits have taken me carefully through the process so that I would understand just what was happening between me and them from their point of view. That is a very valuable and important thing to understand if one channels. -

Wed, March 23, 2005 - 3:47 PMI experimented with channeling back in the late 80s and found it rewarding for a while. I got what I could from it and then moved on to other spiritual practices. Back then, I used Roman & Packer's book "Opening to Channel". The thing bascially flew off a shelf at me while I was wandering through a used book store in San Francisco. If you are interested in exploring chanelling yourself, I could recommend that book without reservation although I'm not sure if it's still in print.

I can see how the vehicle that consciousness operates in this plane could perish though.
Here is a quote from that essay:
"It must here be noted that the "first" and most well-known of the modern channelers, Jane Roberts, died eventually of a failed thyroid —the thyroid of course is the "gland" corresponding to the subtle plexus (vissudha-chakra) which is modified and strategically adapted to channeling purposes through its shadow-ingress at the back of the head, where the personality is to be used as a vocal "instrument". In Carla's, A Channelers Handbook she doesn't even give instruction on how to channel because it is not a task that should be taken on lightly.
Anyway I thought it would be helpful for people to see the otherside of channeling.
It is funny how most people wouldn't let a stranger into their house but letting a strange intelligence into their body/head is appealing to other people.
I think anyone interested in channeling should consult the Ra Material Books 1-5 as it is the top of the game.

You're looking at it from a scientist point of view, it seems to me.
Seth states that all lifespans have a start and a begining. So you have to die of something whether its thyroid failure or spooky god from another dimension fries your brain. But the choice of living and dying and the manner in which we do so is entirely generated by our inner-self.
Personally the text you have posted looks slanted and colored by the dogma of other systems. It presupposes that the death was caused by the failureof the gland. But in reality, we know that inner-self discontiued the creation of the gland. This discontinuation was the direct result of the belief system of the individual. The inner-self will always strive to create a perfect form, but it is altered by the ego's belief system. In the end, we all choose our own challenges in this place. -

Seth states that there is a personal reality and a secondary shared reality of society. The personal reality is completely generated by the inner-self. The shared reality is too. But in this secondary reality we are only contributors to its final form not it's ultimate author.
Seth talks a lot about disasters , its roll in society, and the individual. Let's take the recent tsunami, for example. All those people and animals that died and or are suffering still, have chosen to do so. The ones that have died had chosen this death before they were born. Birth and death are such important events for the conscious mind and inner-self, that they are mapped out before hand. The ones that lived through it had chosen to do so also. What is the role of the victim then? To illicit aide from another? There is your compassion that you claim is missing. Perhaps others suffer because they are fullfilling a wish for others to aide them. The self and society plays a different role then the self and nature. To exist in this world we walk the line between them.
Two soldiers in a war, on different sides of the confilct, share a similar realtionship. They both have chosen their realities and shaped their beliefs to fullfill their internal dreams of killing each other. The doctor patient relationship is the same way. The doctor needs sick people and ultimately believes that most people and even themselves are sick dying things of nature. The patient complies, having absorbed all the programming from parent and society to conform to the mold of a sick and dying person. The doctor then hold up science like a shield and says "You see, I was right, people are sick and dying." The common populace says "Ahh!!" and the role is reinforced, another dream come true. -

Wed, April 20, 2005 - 8:02 PMWhile I do agree with you to an extent with regard to beings programming their incarnations, however, I don't necessarily think that all beings do this just ones that have reached a certain level of awareness in the self-reflective realm. Up until this point its incarnations were automatic and the experiences were of a random nature, much like the many incarnations it took to get to this point, through mineral, plant and animal, not until the basics are learned can the real process of conscious evolution begin, at this point marked by the activation of the heart energy center (Chakra), according to Ra.
I didn't say that compassion is missing but that the idea that we create our own reality can lead to this kind of compassionate lapse amongst other things, lack of self worth, guilt... Not that this is an idea that Seth promotes, I think but other more crafty ET communiqués do.
I guess my basic thinking is, one can't completely generate their personal reality as that "reality" has certain "laws" to obey, that "reality" exists within a context. I don't think will is something that is ours but something that absolute tests its own premise with, it is the doer of consciousness.
Either way I think we are looking at the same thing from different angles. -

But I see hints of temporal reality in your reply. Time is simultaneous, and our inner self exists outside of time. It looks like there is some Dawinsim left inside your belief system.
Seth states that there are these two layers of reality. The first layer is the primary layer that our inner self "for sure" creates. This is our body and immediate surroundings. Seth is very specific to indicate that the senses themselves create reality, not observe it.
The second layer is our society layer. This is where the compromise occurs. We contribute to that reality. Our contribution may be small or large, but we are still essentially creating that reality. Seth states that, often, what gets materialized as reality in this layer is not always the intention of the majority. This, to me, hints at the levels that you are talking about. A place where the child, or less experienced consciousness, gets it way. -

I wouldn't say Darwinism is there I am more of a “Lamarkist” (Jean-Baptiste Lamarck (1744-1829)).
I guess I will have to ask where does this inner self come from and how does it create itself? How does this inner self create itself before it even exists?
It is interesting to note that most systems of spiritual growth say that everything is interconnected and whole but this would mean that there is no inner-self that is seperate to create its own anything, in fact there woud be no "own".
The dinky and self-defeating idea that "will" is a personal possesion free to fluctuate aimlessly, in chronic ignorance, between the antipodes of murky "personal choices" invisibly limited through our crippling definition of "who we are" as volitional beings is what we are here to understand and this is what the consciousness-unit is learning through embodyment.

I kind of assumed you had read the Seth material, a lot of those conscepts are covered in detail, but I'm wondering if you have read any of the "Seth Material?" You really should just read the stuff. It sounds like you are ripe for it.

Fri, January 25, 2008 - 1:19 PMYes, some months after my wife began recalling some of her past lives, something calling itself a "combined essence of love" began speaking through her. From what I gathered based on what it said this was out "whole self" . . . all of our reincarnations and probable selves wrapped up into one. Later on it identified itself as "what we strive to become" rather than literally us. It tended to try to answer questions and talk to us but sometimes the answers weren't that great, although there were some hidden exercises in reality creation. The entity refused to give a name so we referred to it as the "Speaker" as opposed to the combined essence of love. It still comes through from time to time, and in general discusses personal matters or difficulties that we are having and in a general sense has a Seth-like perspective, although it does not seem nearly as advanced or lucid. Still not quote sure what to think of it all. Note, we didn't attempt this, it just started happening as she would go into trance.

Jane did once and it attaqued and woke her from a nightmare.
It was, however, her own creation. She had tried to concretise evil in one spot. The though form knew that it had been created to be destroyed and so attaqued her instead.
After congratulating her on a well-shaped though-form, Seth said to simply wish our creation and other's "peace" as that gave them an amount of reprive.
Sometimes we are not aware creatoers but I think that this is something we are trying to learn.
This is also what magic is all about. -
